Refractive
Winner: James P. Gills, MD Think Coupling All the Time: How Coupling in Relaxing Incisions Affects Spherical Equivalent The coupling ratio can be manipulated to correct both spherical and astigmatic refractive error. Case examples are presented to illustrate the principles of coupling to affect the spherical equivalent.
Honorable Mention
: Luis G. Vargas, MD Coauthors: Gerd U. Auffarth, MD, Tanja M. Rabsilber, Mike P. Holzer, MD, Klio A. Becker, MD Do Capsulorhexis Size and Centration Influence the Performance of the 1CU Accommodative Foldable Intraocular Lens? Capsulorhexis bigger than the IOL optic, or decentered without entirely covering the optic of the lens can affect the mechanical performance of the 1CU accommodative IOL.

Cataract
Winner: Lauren Shatz, MD Coauthors: William Culbertson, MD Optical Performance of the Tecnis Intraocular Lens Compared with a Spherical Intraocular Lens Wavefront analysis and contrast sensitivity testing was performed in patients who received a Tecnis IOL in one eye and a spherical IOL in the fellow eye. Results are discussed.
Honorable Mention: Ike Ahmed, MD Coauthors: Alan S. Crandall, MD, Christoph Kranemann, MD, Jason Goldsmith, MD Clinical Results of the Modified Cionni Capsular Tension Ring for Severe Zonular Weakness A review of 59 cases of scleral suture fixation of the modified capsular tension ring for cases of severe zonular dialysis was found to be a safe and effective technique.

Special Interest
Winner: Jae-Ho Kim, MD Coauthors: Jae Ho Kim, MD, PhD, Eun-Chul Kim, MD, Dongkwon Lim, MD Corneal Bullous Keratopathy Concerning an Implantable Miniaturized Telescope (IMT) in the Eye -- Three Cases Three cases regarding dry type ARMD patients whose IMT in eyes were developed pseudophakic bullous keratopathy concerning with cylinder top of IMT in eyes.
Honorable Mention: Mark A. Terry, MD Coauthors: Paula J. Ousley, MT Healing After DLEK Endothelial Replacement: Comparison of Astigmatism at three, six, and twelve Months Astigmatism shifts that often occur with suture removal after PK were not observed in patients after DLEK. Earlier and more reliable spectacle correction could occur after DLEK than after PK.
