The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) will sponsor a conference call on managing Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS)
ASCRS and AAO are launching a patient and physician education campaign on IFIS associated with the use of prostate drugs. A joint press release from ASCRS and AAO to the news media will be issued on August 22, 2006. A coordinated news release from the American Urological Association will be issued on the same day.
As part of the educational effort, an ASCRS-AAO physician-only conference call will be held at 5:00 PM, Pacific Standard Time, on August 17th (8:00 PM EST, 7:00 PM Central, 6:00 PM Mountain, 5:00 PM Pacific). An expert panel including Samuel Masket, MD, ASCRS President and David Chang, MD, chair of the ASCRS Flomax Task Force and other Task Force members will answer your questions on managing IFIS. The patient education aspects of the program will also be explained.
