Samuel Masket, MD of Los Angeles, Calif., accepted appointment to the Executive Committee of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery on March 17, 2003.
“I am very happy and honored to join the ranks of the Executive Committee. I do so with enthusiasm and humility, and I am very grateful for the confidence granted me. … I hope that I can contribute meaningfully to the goals and directions of the organization,” Masket wrote in his acceptance letter. With his acceptance, Masket became ASCRS Secretary.
As well as maintaining a private practice, Dr. Masket is Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA School of Medicine, and is actively involved in clinical research. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and former Chairman of the Cataract Special Interest Committee of the ASCRS.
Dr. Masket has published extensively on eye surgery and currently serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including the position of Consultation Section Editor of the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is frequently invited as a quest surgeon and lecturer around the world.
